The Iron Road Soccer Cup draws its name and inspiration from the city of Temple, Texas, a place known as the "Railroad Capital of Texas." Since its founding in 1881, Temple has been a hub of the railroad industry, connecting people and goods across the state and beyond.
Temple, Texas: Where It All Began
Temple, Texas, was established as a railway town in the late 19th century when the Gulf, Colorado, and Santa Fe Railway expanded through the area. The city's name honors Bernard Moore Temple, a civil engineer instrumental in the railway’s construction. Over the years, Temple has grown into a dynamic city while retaining its railway roots, which remain an essential part of its identity.
The 2025 Iron Road Soccer Cup is the first of its kind in Temple a weekend of soccer, history, and community pride.
